Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz inaugurated the ‘Flood Relief Card’ program in Okara, providing financial assistance to families affected by recent floods across Punjab. The initiative aims to ensure transparent and quick compensation to victims through digital cards issued by the provincial government.

    Financial Support for Flood Victims

During the ceremony, CM Maryam Nawaz distributed the first batch of Flood Relief Cards among affected citizens, reaffirming her government’s commitment to supporting disaster-hit communities.
Each registered family will receive financial aid directly in their bank accounts, helping them rebuild homes, recover lost livestock, and restore livelihoods.

“No family will be left helpless. We are standing with every person affected by floods,” said Maryam Nawaz while addressing the gathering.

    Digital & Transparent Relief Distribution

The Flood Relief Card is powered by the Punjab Social Protection Authority (PSPA) and ensures that funds reach beneficiaries without middlemen or delays.
Beneficiaries can use the cards for essential purchases or cash withdrawals from any Bank of Punjab (BOP) branch or ATM.

Officials said the digital mechanism prevents duplication and guarantees fair distribution through data verification and geotagging of flood-hit areas.

Focus on Rehabilitation & Future Preparedness

Maryam Nawaz also announced the launch of a comprehensive rehabilitation plan that includes housing reconstruction, school repairs, and infrastructure strengthening in vulnerable districts.
She directed district administrations to complete damage surveys within a week and promised continuous monitoring of relief efforts.

“We will not stop at compensation; our goal is complete recovery,” she emphasized.

    Public Response & Community Engagement

Residents of Okara appreciated the initiative, saying the card system has made relief access simpler and more dignified. Local volunteers and administrative staff were also seen assisting people in the registration process at the event venue.

    Conclusion

The Flood Relief Card program reflects Punjab’s move toward digitally empowered governance and citizen-centric welfare. Under CM Maryam Nawaz’s leadership, the province aims to combine technology and compassion to ensure that flood-affected families rebuild their lives with dignity.
