Interview waivers are now available at the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad and the U.S. Consulate General in Karachi for Pakistani nationals renewing B1/B2 tourist and business visas.
It is open to “all Pakistani residents, regardless of age, whose B1/B2 visas are active or have expired within the previous 48 months,” according to a statement released by the US Embassy in Islamabad.
Prior to this change, only Pakistani nationals aged 45 and above were allowed to apply.
A US visa holder’s capacity to apply for a student or petition-based employment visa without having to undergo an interview is also extended until 2023.
The expansion of interview waiver eligibility is a procedural adjustment intended to improve customer service and expedite the renewal of tourist and business visas for eligible Pakistani nationals.
Some visa applicants may be asked to attend an interview at the U.S. embassy or U.S. Consulate General after submitting their applications, since this is a requirement under U.S. law.
