On Monday, a petition seeking Ishaq Dar’s disqualification as Federal Finance Minister was dismissed by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

The ECP has previously withheld judgement in the lawsuit that aimed to remove Dar as a Senator.

On Monday morning, the commission announced its decision and noted that the ECP regulations do not require disqualification if the oath is not taken within two months after being elected.

On September 27, 2022, Advocate Azhar Siddique withdrew his petition for Dar’s disqualification from the ECP, stating that he will take the matter to a higher forum.
