Nawaz Sharif, supreme leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), and his daughter, Senior Vice President Maryam Nawaz, departed London for Geneva, Switzerland on Wednesday, according to reliable sources.
The sources have verified that the father and daughter would spend one week in the Swiss capital. They boarded a Swiss aircraft from Heathrow in the afternoon, joining two other family members on their way to Switzerland.
The International Conference on Climate Resilient Pakistan will be co-hosted by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on January 9 in Geneva.
The goal of the conference is to bring together aid organisations from across the world to help the people of Pakistan who have been impacted by the recent flooding.
According to the reports, the PML-N leader and his daughter would be travelling to many other cities during their tour.
It has been learned, however, that Nawaz will also meet with Prime Minister Shehbaz, who is scheduled to arrive in the Swiss city on Sunday.
According to the reports, the same physician who often visits the older Sharif at the Avenfield Apartment in London is also stationed in Geneva and has scheduled clinical appointments in the city for Nawaz Sharif.
Sources said that after a week, the two PML-N leaders would fly back to London.
