On Monday, the Sindh High Court (SHC) barred the arrest of PTI leader Shahbaz Gill in connection with a sedition case.
The PTI leader had petitioned the court in Karachi to dismiss the charges against him, and the court gave its orders at that hearing.
The petitioner’s attorney asked the court today to hold off on detaining Gill on the sedition charge until the SHC issue is resolved.
Gill claimed in his appeal that there were three open cases against him with the police: one each at the Brigade, Surjani Town, and Rizvia.
To dismiss the charges filed against him in Karachi, the petitioner requested with the court.
The SHC panel then ordered that Shahbaz Gill not be arrested and postponed the hearing.
The SHC panel denied the PTI leader’s request for a quick hearing of the appeal.
A bailable arrest warrant for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shahbaz Gill was issued by a district and sessions court in Islamabad on December 22 for his involvement in a sedition case.
After the PTI leader failed to appear in court, the judge issued a bailable arrest order and denied his request to waive his presence.
