“Not Conducting Elections Shows That The ECP Is The Government’s B-Team,” Imran Khan

After the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and the federal government failed to organise local body elections in the federal capital, the opposition Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) said that this indicated that the ECP was nothing but a ‘B-Team’ of the federal government, which was afraid to go to the polls.

In a statement released on Saturday, Imran Khan, the PTI leader and a former prime minister, made this claim.

On Saturday, Imran tweeted that the coalition government of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) was trying to avoid elections.

He criticised the Election Commission of Pakistan, saying, “By not implementing IHC orders to hold LG elections in Islamabad today, ECP has again shown it is B team of Imported Govt & its backers.”

He said that the PDM avoided voting in elections because they were afraid of the public.

“PTI remains devoted to the right to vote as a basic democratic standard,” he said.
