Due to an increase in reports of sexual abuse against women and children in the nation, the Sindh government decided to establish Anti-Rape Crisis Cells (ARCC) throughout the province on Thursday.
The government of Sindh has announced plans to set up Anti-Rape Crisis Cells (ARCC) around the province to provide victims with access to medical care and therapy; the first such facility would be located at the Police Surgeon Office in Karachi.
According to Summaiya Syed, a police surgeon and the ARCCs’ designated point person, these cells are modelled after one-stop-protection centres and will provide a wide range of assistance to victims of sexual assault of all gender identities and expressions.
If necessary, with the agreement of the appropriate authorities, the ARCCs will file a first information report (FIR) and guarantee all other legal actions, such as prompt medico-legal exams, the collecting of evidence, and forensic analysis.
In the future, ARCCs would be set up in other Sindh province cities such Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, and Shaheed Benazirabad.
