The Legend of Maula Jatt by Bilal Lashari is completely unstoppable. The most financially successful film ever produced in Pakistan is finally getting its Indian premiere this Friday. Over Rs 220 crores (over $52 million) have been made from the global box office of this magnum opus, which stars Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan, two of the most popular actors in India.
Even though it was only previously speculated that Bilal’s legendary film will be shown in Punjab, India, an Indian entertainment business called INOX Leisure has apparently stated that they would be bringing The Legend of Maula Jatt to India. Rajender Singh Jyala, the chief programming officer of INOX Leisure Ltd, told PTI that the movie will be shown at theatres where Punjabi is spoken.
PVR Cinemas, a network of multiplex theatres, announced the film’s debut on their official Instagram page before quickly removing the post. Presenting the official #TheLegendofMaulaJatt movie poster! The article promised that on Friday, the show will be available for PVR viewing.
There hasn’t been a commercially released film in India since Bol in 2011. Indian theatres also showed the 2008 film Ramchand Pakistani, which starred Nandita Das and Rashid Farooqi. Khuda Kay Liye, directed by Shoaib Mansoor and starring Fawad and Naseeruddin Shah, was released in India and Pakistan in 2007.
Tense diplomatic relationships have made it practically difficult for neighbouring nations to cooperate artistically. Mahira made her Bollywood debut with Shah Rukh Khan’s gangster film Raees, while Fawad was last seen in Indian theatres in Karan Johar’s star-studded offering, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, featuring Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma.
Humaima Malick, who portrays the bold Daro in the film, has already worked with both Emraan Hashmi and Salman Khan, as she appeared in their 2014 film Raja Natwarlal.
The Legend Of Maula Jatt would be released in India on December 30, 2022. In India, this is the last significant film release of the year. On October 13, 2022, it was released in Pakistan and everywhere over the globe, and it has since earned over Rs. 200 crore at the box office. This accomplishment is a first for a film from Pakistan. Thus, many people in India, particularly those who are fans of the film’s main actors, are looking forward to watching it, and it has the potential to do well at the box office.
According to the same source, “Zee Studios is primarily looking at distributing The Legend of Maula Jatt in Delhi-NCR and Punjab.” It’s a Punjabi film, thus it has a better chance of doing well in the North. The future holds a definitive conclusion on this matter.
