It has been ordered by the Lahore High Court (LHC) that movie theatres remain open till 11:30 p.m.
A petition challenging government orders to shut down movie theatres at 8 p.m. was considered by the LHC.
The Punjab Artist Producer and Theaters Association (PAPTA) had their appeal to overturn the 8 p.m. theatre closing notice heard by Justice Shahid Karim.
Because of the petition, LHC pushed back the cutoff time to 11:30 p.m.
The bench of judges noted that modifying people’s behaviours was necessary to mitigate the threat to public health.
The court reaffirmed that it will not reopen the case for further hearings.
In order to reduce the smog, Justice Shahid Karim suggested that everyone in the city get to bed early.
