Former premier and current leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan has said that Nawaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari are avoiding elections out of fear.
While speaking to a group of top journalists who had come to see him at his Lahore residence in Zaman Park, he made the above remark.
Imran Khan acknowledged the realities of the establishment and its potential importance to upholding the rule of law. He said that he is now isolated from the establishment.
The PTI leader stated that he had contact with previous army head General Retired Qamar Javed Bajwa throughout his administration since the top general is always in charge of the whole institution.
Khan, speaking on the present political situation, said that the present government is trying to delay elections till until 2023. Due to the current economic scenario, he said, further postponement of the general elections is not viable.
If the economy continues to deteriorate as he predicts, he believes the government will default in February or March of 2023.
