The Sanghar area of Sindh has been confirmed as having fresh oil and gas deposits by the Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL), which the company has informed the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) about.
On June 26 of this year, the OGDCL began surveying for oil and gas deposits.
The company informed the PSX in a letter that it had made an oil and gas discovery at its Chak-5 Dim South-3 development cum exploratory well in the Sanghar region of Sindh.
“The well was drilled down to 3400 m. Based on the results of wireline logs interpretation, Drill Stern Test-1 in the Massive Sand has tested 2000 Barrels of Oil per Day (BOPD) & 1.30 Million Standard Cubic Feet per Day (MMSCFD) Gas through choke size 32/64″ at Well Head Flowing Pressure (WHFP) of 994 Pounds per Square Inch (Psi). 3. The said discovery shows aggressive exploration strategy of OGDCL,” it read.
According to OGDCL, this finding expands the company’s and the country’s hydrocarbon reserves, helps to close the gap between energy demand and supply using domestic resources, and is generally good news.
