On Wednesday, an Islamabad court denied bail to Senator Azam Swati in the case involving his controversial tweets, citing the fact that he had done the “identical offence” again.

Islamabad Special Judge Central Azam Khan ruled in this case. Earlier today, he had reserved his verdict.

Prosecutor Rizwan Abbasi gave the court an overview of Twitter account verification throughout the hearing. His Twitter account has a “blue tick,” he said, and many celebrities follow Swati.

The attorney said, “Azam Swati is followed by prominent journalists and politicians.” He continued, saying that the senator has never denied any knowledge of the incident.

“There is no doubt that the Twitter account is not of Azam Swati,” stated Abbasi.

As he wrapped up his remarks, the government’s prosecutor and counsel asked the judge to deny bail to the senator.

Contrarily, Sohail Khan, the attorney for the PTI senator, said that screenshots cannot form the basis of a cybercrime lawsuit.
