Monday, the Lahore High Court (LHC) requested a list of all recipients who had kept presents from the Toshakhana since 1947.
The ruling was delivered by Justice Asim Hafeez of the Lahore High Court (LHC) after hearing a plea submitted by a civilian called Munir Ahmed via his attorney, Advocate Azhar Siddique.
In his petition, the plaintiff demanded that information about the gifts received by Toshakhana’s officials be made public.
In his statement rejecting the plea, the government’s attorney stated that information concerning the presents could not be released due to confidentiality considerations.
The court ordered the federal government to give the information by January 16 and said a decision on whether or not the information should be kept secret will be made at that time.
