On Saturday, NEPRA authorised a cut in the electricity rate of Rs0.32 per unit for the month of December to account for monthly fuel adjustment (MFA).

Details reveal that after requesting a price hike of Rs0.25 per unit, the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) submitted a request to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA), which resulted in a price reduction of Rs0.32 per unit in December’s electricity rates due to monthly fuel adjustments.

The notification said that the lower electricity rates were the result of a “monthly fuel adjustment” in the month of October.

It is important to note that the fall-off pricing does not apply to lifeline customers, K-Electric customers, customers with more over 300 units, or those who use electric car charging stations.
