The Federal Ministry of Industry and Production’s Sugar Advisory Board has approved sugar exports, with the first phase allowing the export of 100,000 metric tonnes of sugar.

To prevent a sugar shortage and keep prices stable, the ECC is reportedly planning to evaluate the sugar price every 15 days and allow for the export of additional sugar. However, 500,000 tonnes of sugar will be sent abroad.

Sugar mill owners, on the other hand, praised the government’s decision, saying that it would allow sugarcane payments to farmers and provide much-needed foreign currency to the nation.

It should be mentioned that the sugar sector had requested the export of 10,00,000 tonnes of sugar.
