On Friday, the Sindh High Court (SHC) issued an order establishing a JIT to investigate the trafficking of minor girls in Karachi.

Specifically, the SHC reportedly directed the Interior Ministry to establish a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to look into the trafficking of underage females.

At the hearing, the judge ordered the Federal Investigation Authority (FIA) to begin looking into the allegations of human trafficking made against SSP municipal officials.

Muskaan, a 14-year-old girl, was reportedly kidnapped and sold to smugglers three times, according to Justice Salahuddin Panhwar.

Justice Salahuddin made the startling claim that the underage girls are being brought into Oman.

The court said that although the brave girl had escaped, another 14 or 15 females were still in the smuggler’s custody.

The court also mandated that all relevant agencies investigate and apprehend the traffickers.
