Following the Supreme Court (SC) ruling in his disqualification case, former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Faisal Vawda was restored as a senator.

Following his disqualification as a senator from Sindh, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) withdrew its notification regarding Faisal Vawda’s vacated seat.

The electoral commission restored notice of Vawda’s election as senator. The former PTI leader was appointed to the Sindh Senate seat on March 10, 2021.

Vawda will be entitled to retire from the Senate when his membership is reinstated as a result of the Supreme Court’s decision.

Leader of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Nisar Khuhro was expelled from the Senate as a result of the event. ECP also rescinded its announcement of Khuhro’s election to the Senate.

After Faisal Vawda’s resignation, a representative for the ECP confirmed that elections will be conducted to fill his Senate seat.
