Dr. Saif-ur-Rehman, who was nominated by the MQM-P, has been confirmed as the next administrator of Karachi by the Sindh government.
At the moment, Dr. Saif is Governor Sindh Kamran Tessori’s Principal Secretary.
MQM-P suggested party leader Abdul Waseem for the position of KMC chief if a political administrator is to be appointed, while Dr. Saif-Ur-Rehman was considered for the position if a government official is chosen.
On December 2, Sindh Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah said that within the next couple of days, a MQM-P nominee will be nominated to the KMC office.
With both PPP and MQM-P leaders by his side, the minister informed reporters, “We had previously negotiated with MQM-P that whomever they designate will become the new administrator.”
The meeting took place at the MQM-P’s Bahadurbad headquarters, where the topic was discussed between a PPP delegation and the party’s leaders.
