It has been decided to form a JIT (joint investigative team) by the Islamabad police to look into the death of veteran journalist Arshad Sharif.
The Joint Investigation Team (JIT) will consist of law enforcement officers from various agencies, including the Superintendent of Police (SP) in Saddar, the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) at Headquarters, and the Station House Officer (SHO) from the appropriate police station.
The assassination of veteran journalist Arshad Sharif prompted the Islamabad police to file a first information report (FIR) earlier in the day under instructions from Pakistan’s Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial.
The station house officer (SHO) of the Ramna police station, Rasheed Ahmed, filed the FIR.
Waqar Ahmed, Khurram Ahmed, and Tariq Ahmed Wasi are the three individuals who have been exonerated in this investigation. The First Information Report was submitted under Section 174 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).
Umar Ata Bandial, chief justice of Pakistan, had demanded that the current government file a first information report (FIR) on the death of Arshad Sharif in Kenya.
