On Monday, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) initiated action to depose Imran Khan as chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
Reports indicate that after Imran Khan’s disqualification in the Toshakhana case, the ECP moved against his party chairmanship as leader of the PTI.
The ECP hearing to remove former prime minister Imran Khan as PTI chairman has been set for December 13, according to sources.
Earlier, a petition asking for Imran Khan’s ouster as chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was accepted for consideration by the Lahore High Court (LHC).
The petition claimed that Imran was ineligible to lead a political party under the Political Parties Order and its guidelines because of his disqualification from the NA-95 constituency after the Toshakhana case.
The attorney filed a petition asking the court to compel the ECP to depose Imran as PTI chairman and nominate a replacement.
