The government has formed a committee to examine the pharmaceutical industry’s request for a price increase.
According to credible government sources, the pharmaceutical industry is pushing for a 40% price increase on medicines.
A notice was released stating that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has formed a committee to assess the demand in the pharmaceutical business. This committee would be led by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar.
Committee members include Ayaz Sadiq, Federal Health Minister Abdul Qadir Patel, and other high-ranking government officials.
The notification said that the committee will review the industry’s request for a price increase and make a decision. In addition, “the committee will also evaluate the Drug Pricing Policy 2018,” as stated in the announcement.
