In the Islamabad High Court on Tuesday, the Foreign Office (FO) provided details of contact with the United States (US) about the repatriation of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui (IHC).
Aafia Siddiqui, a neuroscientist with a background from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, is now serving an 86-year jail term after her conviction on seven charges of attempted murder and assault against US military soldiers in Afghanistan.
Justice Sardar Aijaz Ishaq Khan of the Islamabad High Court heard a plea for Dr. Aafia Siddiqui’s release and repatriation.
The FO complied with the Islamabad High Court’s order and presented the evidence (IHC). The court reviewing the case was pleased with the US’s record of communication about the return of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui.
Eventually, the court session was postponed until December 7. The IHC has asked the Foreign Office to provide a full transcript of their talks with the United States capital.
