The prices of several freight trains operated by Pakistan Railways have been reduced.

In a meeting led by Federal Railways Minister Saad Rafique in Lahore, it was decided to reduce the cost of shipping freight by train.

A public relations representative claims that at Saad Rafique’s direction, rates for all container stock between Lahore and port areas have been reduced.

The government increased train fares across the board in early October to combat inflation.

The statement said that the tariff for the Khyber Mail’s AC sleeper class between Karachi and Peshawar through Lahore had been hiked to Rs11,000.

Both the AC business class and AC standard class fares have risen, with the former now costing Rs8,000 and the latter at Rs7,000. The price for the least expensive ticket now starts at Rs3,000.
