The Sindh education department has halted the payment of wages to more than 2,000 ghost teachers throughout the province.
The Sindh education department apparently contacted the provincial accountant general to request that 2,019 unaccounted-for teachers be removed from their payrolls.
In response to the department of education’s letter, the AG of Sindh has frozen the transfer of salary funds to the ghost teachers.
Akbar Laghari, the secretary of education of Sindh, has threatened to fire any teachers who collect their paychecks while not showing up for work.
In the districts of Karachi, Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Qambar, Jacobabad, Dadu 102, and Benazirabad, 144 fake teachers’ paychecks were withheld.
As a result of this investigation, 128 ghost teachers’ wages in Shikarpur, 89 in Naushero Feroze, 155 in Larkana, and 28 in Sanghar have been frozen.
