On Thursday, Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi announced the creation of a trust for disadvantaged artists and provided them with a budget of Rs1 billion.
The son of the late actor Tariq Teddy reportedly received a check for Rs3 million from the Chief Minister of Punjab, who also promised to hire him at the Chief Minister’s residence.
The PM also declared the provision of Rs1 billion for artists’ trust. He declared an increase in the monthly allowance from Rs5,000 to Rs25,000.
The Artists’ Trust would be formally established through legislation passed by the Punjab legislature, and a Board of Trustees would be established to determine how the monies would be distributed.
The Chief Minister of Punjab further stated that it is our duty to provide for our artists and their families.
